Day Elima

Today we spent the morning of the Lord's Day at Church... the Wai'oli Hui'ia Church. Its the oldest Church building in Kauai.

In addition to taking the time out to praise and honor God on His day, its such a neat service to experience. Various parts of the service is spoken and sung in Hawaiian, so it nice to read along in english and even try to sing some of the words. The choir includes a piano and ukeleles...

After service we took a drive up the remainder of the North Shore to show the Grans where the "road ends". They were surprised at all the people that flock up the North Shore... many of them for the 11 mile Kalaulau Trail Hike.

After Church.... we rested (very appropriate for a Sunday!) and, then got ourselves together for our dinner reservation at the Beach House Restaurant located down south in sunny Poipu.

The Beach House Restaurant, much like many of the places that we've shared with the grans on this trip is another special location for Leon and I. The key seating for the night is "sunset" seating set at 6 p.m. Your meal is timed so that by the time you have dessert you can take pictures in front of the sunset.

Leon and I both had the macademia nut encrusted mahi mahi. All sorts of exotic fish, fish, and more fish is a big thing on the islands. Its a great mild fish that doesn't taste like fish at all... (my kind of fish)

Love had the fantastic penne pasta with marinara sauce! and Lea had a dish that you can't just get anywhere....

Chicken fingers!!! It looks like fish doesn't it? Poppa Leon wanted to nab one of these, but it wasn't fish I promise.

While we had our dinner, right out the door next to us a rainbow faded in and out for our viewing pleasure. We also spotted some sea turtles surfing in the waves too.

While we waited on dessert, the girls had fun watching tide come in.

For dessert we had carrot cake... it was divine.

Poppa Leon asked us on the way to the restaurant what the restaurant was known for and I told him, "the sunsets!". While the food is fantastic, what really draws vacationers to the Beach House is the beautiful scenery for sunsets. They have a photographer on site that comes around and asks if you'd like your picture taken at the end of the meal.

After seeing the beautiful sunset, we couldn't let this opportunity pass us by...

It was a great ending to the Lord's Day....
